Описание: Forgiveness is hard but not impossible. When you can't forgive someone who has hurt you, the last thing you want is a guilt trip for not forgiving. For over 50 years, Dr. Chuck Lynch has asked people who can't forgive to honestly explain why they can't. When their legitimate concerns are addressed to their satisfaction, over 90% are able to forgive. I Should Forgive, But...identifies common reasons it is hard to forgive. * "...but I'm not angry!" Admitting your anger can help to identify your legitimate needs.* "...but I can't forget." Why the forgive-and-forget approach doesn't work.* "...but someone has to pay." How to use revenge as the back door to forgiveness.* "...but they won't acknowledge what they did." Forgiveness is possible even when reconciliation isn't.* "...but they'll only do it again." How to break free from the "victim" trap mentality.* "...but I'm living with the memories." How to gain freedom from the control of the past.I Should Forgive, But... will give you psychologically sound and scripturally based answers to the hindrances to forgiveness. One reader commented, "It was easily the most powerful book, outside of the Bible, I have ever read. I cannot believe how many answers to my years of pain are in there." Read, my friend, and be free.

Описание:

Are you bitter?
Is it possible you are and think you're not?
Interesting thing about bitterness is that this snare that satan uses to catch us is practically invisible to us. This is mostly because the snare is set using our own emotions against us. Someone harms me in some way, says something hurtful, does something hateful to me and these may truly have been offences to me. Now I react with anger. This is an honest emotion. I become sad and upset. Again, more honest emotions. Satan sees this happening and begins to stoke those flames of emotion with thoughts of, how could they have done this to me? What kind of person would do such a thing? Why me? And with all of this, left unchecked, your heart becomes bitter. Now you feel you have the right to stay in this state of mind toward those who have offended you and satan is just cheering you on against them knowing that your bitter heart has now made you defiled. God has a much better plan for you knowing that being defiled will separate you from Him. The scriptures tell us that it is good that the heart be established by grace (kindness, favor), not with foods that have not profited those who have been occupied with them. Hebrews 13:9 Let the Lord undue this snare that you have been caught up in and bring true lasting healing to your heart.

Описание: One Brick at a Time is Elaine Oostra's life story. She shares her fond and sometimes humorous memories of childhood as well as the struggles and pain of growing up with a mom who suffered from mental illness. She goes in depth of what it took to overcome bitterroots. She addresses the walls we put around ourselves for protection from present or past hurts inflicted by others, or our own regrets we want to keep secret. The building material for this wall is fear. The mortar that holds the bricks into place is bitterness, guilt, and anger. There is nothing attractive about these walls, no matter how pretty we try to make them. We decorate them with pretty clothes, makeup, work, education, doing good deeds, and much more. We think no one will notice, yet our eyes, the mirrors of our hearts, reveal all in our countenances. The walls we build shut out others and God. Secrets kept buried deep inside destroy us from the inside out. We think we hide things well, yet they seep out in our actions and character and cling to us like a static dress. One Brick at a Time offers hope for those who are in bondage to bitterness and past pain and are longing to overcome and be set free. It offers hope to learn to trust God and tear down the walls one brick at a time. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Описание:

When the Chinese Communist Party assumed power, Mao Zedong declared that “not even one person shall die of hunger.” A little over a decade later, China was in the midst of the most devastating famine in modern history. Between 1957 and 1962 – the years commonly associated with Mao’s Great Leap Forward – some 30 million peasants died of starvation and exhaustion.

Rather than exploring why party leaders stumbled so badly in their attempts to modernize China, the contributors to this landmark collection draw on newly available sources to show how men and women in rural and urban settings experienced the changes during this period. Eating Bitterness lifts the curtain of officially propagated images of mass mobilization to expose the uneven and deeply contested nature of state-society relations in Maoist China. It also illuminates the role that history writing and memory have played in shaping narratives of the recent past.
