Описание: This book is intended as a textbook for a first-year PhD course in mathematics for economists and as a reference for graduate students in economics. It provides a self-contained, rigorous treatment of most of the concepts and techniques required to follow the standard first-year theory sequence in micro and macroeconomics.
Описание: What every neuroscientist should know about the mathematical modeling of excitable cells. Combining empirical physiology and nonlinear dynamics, this text provides an introduction to the simulation and modeling of dynamic phenomena in cell biology and neuroscience. It introduces mathematical modeling techniques alongside cellular electrophysiology. Topics include membrane transport and diffusion, the biophysics of excitable membranes, the gating of voltage and ligand-gated ion channels, intracellular calcium signalling, and electrical bursting in neurons and other excitable cell types. It introduces mathematical modeling techniques such as ordinary differential equations, phase plane, and bifurcation analysis of single-compartment neuron models. With analytical and computational problem sets, this book is suitable for life sciences majors, in biology to neuroscience, with one year of calculus, as well as graduate students looking for a primer on membrane excitability and calcium signalling.

Описание: Decision-making in the face of uncertainty is a challenge in machine learning, and the multi-armed bandit model is a common framework to address it. This comprehensive introduction is an excellent reference for established researchers and a resource for graduate students interested in exploring stochastic, adversarial and Bayesian frameworks.

Описание: Mass Insanity is a factual and provocative book; a manual for understanding the Islamisation of the West, mass immigration, indoctrinated societies. Can a society become morally insane? An analysis of a warped rationale, the clash of identities, and their effect on our lives. One of the most important scientific yet accessible works of the decade.

Описание: Economic theory of the last fifty years has been dominated by the paradigm of General Equilibrium Theory, based on the scientific work of Walras-Pareto-Cassel-Wald-Hicks-Arrow-De- breu-McKenzie. Under these assumptions it is generally said that in a (one pe- riod, competitive) general equilibrium model there is no place for money.

Описание:
Can every allocation in the core of an economy be decentralized by a suitably chosen price system? Werner Hildenbrand shows that the answer is yes if the economy has "many" participating agents and if the influence of every individual agent on collective actions is "negligible." To give a general and precise definition of economics with this property he considers both economies with a continuum of agents, and a sequence of economies with an increasing number of participants. In both cases this leads to a measure theoretic formulation of economic equilibrium analysis.
In the first part of the book the relevant mathematics is developed. In the second part the continuity and convexity properties of the total demand of a consumption sector are investigated. An important result is the equivalence between the core and the set of Walras equilibria for an exchange economy with a continuum of agents. The author then deals with limit theorems on the core for purely competitive sequences of exchange economies. In the last chapter the core and the set of Walras equilibria for a coalition production economy and the relation between these two equilibrium concepts are studied. Originally published in 1974. Описание: This book is devoted to the study of dynamical models of decentralized economic systems. Branches of the economic system are treated as fully independent economic agents that plan their work according to their own purposes. It is shown that the lack of coordination between economic agents leads to a limit cycle for some economic indicators.
