Описание: Against Continuity` is the first book to demonstrate that the beating heart of Gilles Deleuze s philosophy is a systematic ontology of irreducible, singular entities. This requires a radical break with decades of Deleuzian orthodoxy, according to which Deleuze s metaphysics revolves around the dissolution of discrete entities into a continuous world of flows and events

Описание: Natalie's uplifting story of using the scientific process to "save" her mother from depression is what Booklist calls "a winning story full of heart and action."

Eggs are breakable. Hope is not.

When Natalie's science teacher suggests that she enter an egg drop competition, Natalie thinks that this might be the perfect solution to all of her problems. There's prize money, and if she and her friends wins, then she can fly her botanist mother to see the miraculous Cobalt Blue Orchids--flowers that survive against impossible odds. Natalie's mother has been suffering from depression, and Natalie is sure that the flowers' magic will inspire her mom to love life again. Which means it's time for Natalie's friends to step up and show her that talking about a problem is like taking a plant out of a dark cupboard and giving it light. With their help, Natalie begins an uplifting journey to discover the science of hope, love, and miracles.

A vibrant, loving debut about the coming-of-age moment when kids realize that parents are people, too. Think THE FOURTEENTH GOLDFISH meets THE THING ABOUT JELLYFISH.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY NPR * KIRKUS REVIEWS * THE CHICAGO PUBLIC LIBRARY *

"Natalie's Korean heritage is sensitively explored, as is the central issue of depression."
--Publishers Weekly

"A compassionate glimpse of mental illness accessible to a broad audience."
--Kirkus Reviews, STARRED REVIEW

"Holy moly This book made me feel."
--Colby Sharp, editor of The Creativity Project, teacher, and cofounder of Nerdy Book Club

Praise for She Persisted: Patsy Mink

A propulsive narrative moves quickly through Mink's life . . . The book is decidedly inspirational in tone, yet the text includes brief, accurate, and age-appropriate explanations of the laws, people, and ideas that contributed to structural racism and oppression . . . A concise yet stirring biography. --Kirkus Reviews

Encouraged by his parents to pursue a degree in Mathematics at a leading university, Hector chooses to stay his cherished ambition of making a career for himself as an artist. Embarking on his freshman year, outside forces are pulling him in numerous directions as he struggles to reconcile the fate he has chosen to accept with the life he believes is his destiny. Closest to him is a sinister group of companions from his South Philadelphia neighborhood from whom he cannot - or will not - detach himself. Next, there is Gretchen, an outcast Manhattan socialite who relentlessly urges him to break free of the social norms that confine him and to do the work that he was put on this Earth to do. Finally, there is Leah - the broken doll - an emaciated drug abuser who is prone to violent outbursts and with whom he suffers a lengthy and stormy relationship. Hector`s parents believe him when he complains that it is the demands of his curriculum that prevent him from returning home for even a brief holiday visit, yet, unbeknownst to them, he is driving three hundred miles back to his old neighborhood every weekend to join with his friends and girlfriend Leah in their lifestyle of revelry and debauchery. Always caught up in the moment, the night comes quietly as the reader walks in Hector`s footsteps from a stable homelife to overwhelming academic challenges, to the exotic luxury of lavish mansions and penthouse apartments, and ultimately to the buried squalor of the city. Looming in the backdrop all the while is his slow descent into psychosis as he struggles with the bitter realization that he will never be the person he had hoped to be.

Описание:

The present INTERACTIVE BOOK expands on the evolution of Taekwondo as an Olympic sport, revealing the hidden parts of a competition, supporting everyday training in theory and describing every technique used with combinations in detail (Kinesiology, Kicks, Punches - 477 techiques). Emphasis is paid on categorizing kicks and kinesiology and organizing techniques into homogenous categories with the purpose of making their learning and use easier and in the right way.

The book contains EVERY (Kinesiology and Kicking) technique, without exceptions, that has been used in Taekwondo - WTF competitions throughout the years. The change in sparring regulations substantially affects the use of techniques (some techniques are being favoured more often, some are being marginalized, etc). The reader has an opportunity to find and choose those techniques and combinations that suit him/her better.

Each technique is broken down in variations of attacks and counterattacks. The basic form of the technique is described first, followed by combinations with other techniques and variations, according to level of difficulty (easy to difficult). The order in which the techniques have been assembled facilitates faster learning, enabling the reader to memorize them in a sequence and use them later on in sparring automatically, from memory alone.

Technical execution and tactic used in competitions are described in every move, taking into account other parameters such as flexibility, injuries, analysis of advantages and disadvantages of every movement, common mistakes committed by trainees, and the negative consequences of mistakes.

The book consists of 402 pages and contains 24 Chapters. The Theory part includes: Analysis of competition Taekwondo, Brain function in competition, Injuries (causes, prevention, treatment), Improving Performance, Teaching & Methodology, Technical components of kicking, Evolution of competition and training as a result of the electronic scoring system.

Practice Part A is an analysis of Kinesiology: Fighting stances & blocking, Steps (attack & counterattack, changes of stance), Feints, Sideways movement, Clinching.

Practice Part B is an analysis of Kicks: Mirro chagi, Yop chagi, Bituro chagi, Paltung chagi, Dollyo chagi, Naerio chagi, An chagi, Bakat chagi, Dwit chagi, Huryeo chagi, Bandal Dollyo chagi, Double kicking techniques, Triple kicking techniques, and Punching.

The book has been enriched with 231 Images, 44 tables and 64 quotes that are most relevant to the context. The purposes of these adages is for the reader to become acquainted with the high intellect of wise individuals and be exposed through their wisdom to a positive stimulus for inner culture, a sparkle for thinking to improve, enlightened, and of better quality.

Every technique is presented online and realistically in videos, in the same order and number as described in the book. Access to videos is gained through the unique codes at: www.kostasbeis-tkd.gr
