Bibliography: http://www.nyupress.org/webchapters/9780814775998_benhabib_biblio.pdf In an increasingly globalized world, the movement of peoples across national borders is posing unprecedented challenges, for the people involved as well as for the places to which they travel and their countries of origin. Citizenship is now a topic in focus around the world but much of that discussion takes place without sufficient attention to the women, men, and children, in and out of families, whose statuses and treatments depend upon how countries view their arrival. As essays in this volume detail, both the practices and theories of citizenship need to be reappraised in light of the array of persons and of twentieth-century commitments to their dignity and equality. Migrations and Mobilities uniquely situates gender in the context of ongoing, urgent conversations about globalization, citizenship, and the meaning of borders. Following an introductory essay by editors Seyla Benhabib and Judith Resnik that addresses the parameters and implications of gendered migration, the interdisciplinary contributors consider a wide range of issues, from workers' rights to children's rights, from theories of the nation-state and federalism to obligations under transnational human rights conventions. Together, the essays in this path-breaking collection force us to consider the pivotal role that gender should play in reconceiving the nature of citizenship in the contemporary, transnational world. Описание: The theme of this anthology is words, especially words in the context of the Dharma. Words have such power and magic, and yet they also present so many limitations and pitfalls. There are questions of how to use them skilfully and accurately, and the dangers of taking things too literally or misunderstanding metaphors. Indeed, there`s the difference between understanding words and really knowing anything at all. There`s the relationship between words and the truth, and the role poetry plays in connecting them.
"The Mozart Anthology" is a celebration of Mozart's music, offering five arrangements, fantasies, and showpieces as performed by the Anderson & Roe Piano Duo. Each work translates the spirit of Mozart's original vision to the keyboard in a highly pianistic manner, making attractive additions to any piano duo's recital repertoire.
The volume begins with the somber Chorale Prelude ("Der, welcher wandert diese Strasse voll Beschwerden") from Die Zauberfl te, arranged for two pianos in homage to the chorale preludes of Bach-Busoni. By contrast, the "Papageno " fantasy is essentially a game of musical twister for piano duet featuring a mash-up of Papageno's felicitous arias (also from Die Zauberfl te).
Two works in this anthology originate from Mozart's opera Cos fan tutte. A pair of women bid a heartfelt farewell to their lovers departing by sea in the two-piano arrangement of "Soave sia il vento," while the Grand Scherzo recasts the swirling, flirtatious events that close Act I as a four-movement sonata for piano, four-hands.
Rounding out the anthology is Anderson's irreverently off-the-wall and dizzyingly virtuosic "Ragtime alla turca" for two pianos, based on Mozart's Rondo "Alla turca," K. 331.
All five works have been newly formatted and edited. Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). Arranged and adapted for two pianos and piano, four hands by Greg Anderson (b. 1981). Advanced. 74 pages. Two copies required for performance of two piano works. Published by Awkward Fermata Press.
